OpenMico is Bible presentation software that lets you find any passage by reference or by the words you remember, preview it and display Bible verses on screen in moments. Your Bibles are installed on your computer, so it works offline, and the same verse can go to the projector, the stage display and the livestream at once, each in its own translation and style.
Putting scripture on screen sounds simple until the preacher announces a verse nobody planned for. Good Bible projection software makes that moment uneventful: a fast search, a clear preview and a clean slide. That is the core of OpenMico, and it is free.
How do you display Bible verses on screen with OpenMico?
- Choose your translation. KJV and the World English Bible are ready to use. Download more historical editions, or import a licensed translation your church holds the rights to.
- Search by reference or by words. Type "Psalm 23" or "John 3:16-17", or search for a phrase such as "the Lord is my shepherd" when you cannot remember the address.
- Add it to the Schedule, or present it straight away. Planned readings can sit in the continuously saved Schedule alongside songs and slides. Unplanned verses can be found and shown on the spot.
- Check it in Preview. See the passage with your theme applied before the congregation does.
- Send it Live. One action puts it on every connected output.
What makes OpenMico good for Bible projection?
Fast search that matches how people remember scripture
People remember verses by their words as often as by their numbers. OpenMico searches both, which helps volunteers who are not sure where a passage lives.
Your translations, imported where you hold the rights
OpenMico ships with KJV and WEB and offers further historical editions to download. If your church uses the NIV, ESV, NLT, NKJV or another modern translation, you can import it where you hold the rights. OpenMico does not supply licensed text. The Bibles and translations guide explains how importing works, and our article on projecting Bible translations and copyright covers what to check. Please treat it as general information, not legal advice.
A different translation on each output
Each output can have its own translation, theme and layout. Show a modern translation on the main screen, a different one on the stream, and plain text on the stage display for the preacher.
Themes built for reading
Use the theme designer to set typography, backgrounds and layouts that suit longer passages. Consistent scripture styling helps people follow along, especially from the back of the room.
Can verses appear as they are preached?
Yes. With Listening switched on, OpenMico transcribes the sermon and detects spoken references such as "Romans chapter eight", queuing the passage in Preview for the operator to approve. This is available on every plan. On Pro and Max, AI also recognises passages that are described rather than cited. Every reference is checked against your installed Bible, and the operator always decides what goes live. Read more about AI Bible verse detection, or see our guide to displaying Bible verses during a sermon.
What is included on each plan?
Bible search and presentation are part of the free core app. Pro and Max add cloud and AI features. Billing is monthly or yearly; see the pricing page for current details.

Who is it for?
Pastors
Plan your readings into the Schedule, and know that an extra verse mentioned on the fly can still reach the screen quickly. Your service plans and Bibles stay on your church's computer.
Worship leaders
Scripture readings, songs and prayers live in one running order, so the transitions between them are smooth.
Media volunteers
Search by the words you heard, preview, then go live. There is no need to know exactly where every verse sits in the Bible, and the Preview step gives a chance to catch mistakes.
Livestream and tech teams
Send verses to OBS through the Network/Browser Source output, or to NDI (video only, with a compatible NDI runtime and audio routed separately).

Frequently asked questions
Which Bible translations come with OpenMico?
The King James Version and the World English Bible ship with the app, and more historical editions can be downloaded. Modern translations such as the NIV, ESV, NLT and NKJV can be imported where your church holds the rights.
Is the KJV free to project in the UK?
In the UK the KJV is under Crown copyright rather than being public domain, while the World English Bible is public domain. This is general information, not legal advice, so check the terms that apply to your church.
Do I need the internet to display Bible verses?
No. Installed Bibles live on your computer, so searching and presenting scripture works offline in the free core app.
Can OpenMico show two translations at once?
Each output can have its own translation, so you could show one version on the main screen and a different one on the livestream or stage display.
