Best Worship Presentation Software 2026: An Honest Buyer's Guide

The best worship presentation software in 2026 is the one that fits your church's budget, computers and volunteers, not the one with the longest feature list. ProPresenter is still the deepest tool for large productions, EasyWorship and MediaShout suit teams that want an established commercial product, FreeShow and OpenLP are capable free options, and OpenMico pairs a free, offline core app with live AI verse detection on Windows, macOS and Linux.

This guide sets out how to choose, then looks at each option fairly: who it suits, what it costs as of October 2026, which platforms it runs on and where it is strongest. Prices change often, so check each vendor's site for current pricing before you decide.

How do you choose church presentation software?

Before comparing products, write down what your services actually need. A church of 60 with one projector and a rota of volunteers has very different needs from a multi-campus church streaming to several platforms.

The main options, one by one

OpenMico

OpenMico is a desktop app for Windows (x64 and ARM64), macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) and Linux (AppImage and deb, supported where practical). The core app is free, needs no account and works offline. It covers installed Bible search by reference or by words, a song library that turns sectioned lyrics into clean slides, a slide editor with PowerPoint import, images and video in the running order, a continuously saved Schedule, and Preview and Live views.

Its outputs include full-screen displays, stage displays, a Browser Source output for OBS and NDI output (video only, with a compatible NDI runtime). Each output can have its own translation, theme and layout, which helps when the stream needs a different look from the room.

Its distinctive feature is listening. With the optional live transcription switched on, OpenMico detects Bible references spoken aloud, such as "John 3:16" or "Romans chapter eight", and queues them in Preview so the operator can show them with one action. On the Pro and Max plans, AI scripture recognition also handles passages that are described rather than cited. Every detected reference is checked against the installed Bible, and the operator always decides what goes live. You can read more on the AI Bible verse detection page.

Suits: small and mid-sized churches, mixed Windows and Mac teams, Linux users, and anyone who wants help keeping up with the preacher. Pricing: free core app; Pro and Max plans, monthly or yearly, on the pricing page. Keep in mind: KJV and the World English Bible ship with the app; modern translations such as NIV or ESV must be imported where your church holds the rights.

ProPresenter

ProPresenter, from Renewed Vision, is the tool many large churches build their production around. As of October 2026, the Standard plan is $29/month or $289/year per seat, and the Campus plan for houses of worship is $59/month or $649/year for 20 seats; check the vendor's site for current pricing. It runs on macOS and Windows, not Linux, and offers a 14-day free trial with sign-up.

Its strengths are real: NDI, SDI and Syphon broadcast outputs, highly customisable stage screens, a large scripture catalogue (some translations sold separately), ProPresenter Cloud for syncing across machines, and an included remote app. If your services involve complex video routing, multiple screens and a dedicated production team, ProPresenter is very hard to beat.

Suits: large churches and production-led teams with a budget for per-seat subscriptions.

EasyWorship

EasyWorship, from Softouch, is priced by average weekly attendance. As of October 2026, Basic starts from $17.50/month or $210/year and Premium from $27.50/month or $330/year, with a campus licence included in both; check the vendor's site for current pricing. Premium adds a large media library and an online media designer.

EasyWorship 8 runs on Windows and now on Mac, with native Apple silicon support added in April 2026. It offers 100+ Bible translations, Main, Alternate and Foldback outputs, and NDI as a subscription feature (if you are on Mac, check with the vendor that NDI and Alternate Output are available in version 8). The 30-day trial needs no credit card. There is no Linux version.

Suits: Windows-centred churches that want a familiar, well-supported commercial product.

MediaShout

MediaShout stands out for offering one-time purchases. As of October 2026, the Windows Site licence is $599 and covers unlimited computers at one site, the Mac Site licence is $499, and a one-computer LE subscription is $198/year; check the vendor's site for current pricing. Most editions include 70 Bibles, and stage display is available on the Site, Essentials, Complete and Mac Site editions. There is a 14-day trial with no credit card.

Suits: churches that prefer to buy once rather than subscribe, especially those with several computers on one site.

Proclaim

Proclaim, from Faithlife (the makers of Logos), is built around cloud collaboration. One subscription covers the whole team, with unlimited installs and collaborators. It supports SDI and NDI, integrates with Logos and its Sermon Editor, and offers Signals for congregation phones. You can present offline after syncing, though some features need internet, and a Faithlife or Logos account is required.

It runs on Windows 10 x64 (not ARM) and macOS 13 or later, with a 14-day trial and no watermarks. We could not confirm current pricing from the official site, so check Proclaim's pricing page directly.

Suits: churches already using Logos, and teams where several people prepare services from different places.

FreeShow

FreeShow is free and open source under GPL-3.0, funded by donations, with builds for Windows, macOS and Linux. Its latest release, v1.6.7, came out on 21 October 2026. It includes NDI output, a stage view, separate in-person and online outputs, one-click scripture slides, cloud sync, a mobile remote and MIDI control.

Suits: churches that want a modern, actively developed free app with no subscription.

OpenLP

OpenLP is a long-standing free, open-source project (GPL v3 or later) for Windows, macOS and Linux. The current version is 3.1.7, with 4.0 in progress. It offers Bible import from several formats, song import with verse tagging and verse order, a browser-based remote, free Android and iOS remote apps, and a browser-based stage view that needs no extra monitor.

Suits: budget-conscious churches and volunteers comfortable with a practical, community-built tool.

Holyrics

Holyrics, from Brazil, is popular in Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking churches. The core software is free, with an optional plan from US$2/month as of October 2026 for online sharing and extras; check the vendor's site for current pricing. It runs on Windows, Linux and Mac (Mac needs Java 8) and includes lyrics with themes, Bible display, stage views and a mobile remote.

Which worship presentation software should you choose?

For a small church on a tight budget

Start with a free option. OpenMico's core app, FreeShow and OpenLP all handle lyrics, scripture and slides without a subscription. If your preacher moves quickly between passages, OpenMico's verse detection can take pressure off a single volunteer. Our comparison of OpenLP, FreeShow and OpenMico goes into the detail.

For a mid-sized church with a livestream

Look closely at outputs. You will usually want a projector feed, a stage display and a clean overlay for the stream. OpenMico, FreeShow, EasyWorship, ProPresenter and Proclaim all offer NDI in some form; OpenMico also has an OBS Browser Source output, which needs no plugin. See displays, OBS and NDI for how OpenMico sets these up.

For a large or multi-campus church

ProPresenter remains the strongest fit for complex productions, with SDI, deep stage screen control and cloud sync. Proclaim is worth a look if you value team collaboration and Logos integration. MediaShout's site licence can work out well where many computers share one site.

By operating system

  • Mac only: ProPresenter, EasyWorship 8, MediaShout, Proclaim, FreeShow, OpenLP and OpenMico all run on macOS.
  • Windows only: every option here runs on Windows; note that Proclaim does not support Windows on ARM.
  • Linux: choose from OpenMico, FreeShow, OpenLP or Holyrics.

If you are currently paying for ProPresenter and wondering whether you need everything it offers, our guide to ProPresenter alternatives covers what to check before switching.

Try it on a real service plan

The surest test is to build last Sunday's service in two or three of these apps and run it with a volunteer. OpenMico's core app is free, needs no account and works offline, so you can download it and rehearse a full service before deciding anything.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best worship presentation software in 2026?

There is no single best choice for every church. ProPresenter suits large, production-heavy services, EasyWorship and MediaShout suit teams wanting an established commercial product, FreeShow and OpenLP are strong free options, and OpenMico suits churches that want a free core app with live verse detection on Windows, macOS or Linux.

Which church presentation software runs on Linux?

As of October 2026, FreeShow, OpenLP, Holyrics and OpenMico offer Linux builds. ProPresenter, EasyWorship, MediaShout and Proclaim do not support Linux.

Does any worship software put Bible verses on screen when the preacher says them?

OpenMico can listen to the sermon, detect spoken Bible references and queue them in Preview for the operator to approve. As of October 2026, we found no built-in spoken-verse detection in the official materials of ProPresenter, EasyWorship, MediaShout, Proclaim, FreeShow, OpenLP or Holyrics.

Is free worship presentation software good enough for Sunday services?

For many churches, yes. Free options such as OpenMico's core app, FreeShow and OpenLP cover lyrics, Bible verses, slides and multiple outputs, which is what most Sunday services need.
